The World of Film Has the Oscars and Bodil. Theatre Has the Tonys and Reumert. Songwriting Has the Grammys – and in Aarhus, ÅSE and Wanda.
Every year in mid-January, ÅSV hosts a spectacular awards show featuring live music, audience quizzes, and, most importantly, the presentation of the ÅSE awards and the honorary guitar, Wanda.
The ÅSE award is named for its modern, catchy, and strong Nordic vibe, reflecting the vitality and power of the contemporary music scene. What could be more Nordic—or at least Danish—than the name Åse? We honestly can’t think of anything.
Awards for Song of the Year and Co-write of the Year
The ÅSE awards typically consist of two categories: Song of the Year and Co-write of the Year (though occasionally a special ÅSE award makes an appearance!).
You can nominate one song in each category if:
- The song (or a significant part of it) was written within the last calendar year.
- The song was written or co-written by you.
- You are a paying member of ÅSV.
Note: Campaigning for your songs is not allowed—e.g., asking friends on Facebook to vote for your songs. Such songs will be disqualified.
The Voting Process
Voting is secret, and the results are not revealed until the ÅSE awards ceremony. However, the three finalists in each category are announced beforehand.
If you’ve nominated a song, you must vote for your song to be considered for the award.
